The NAR is working on developing a program aimed at providing primary and secondary school teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to make use of model rockets in their classrooms. This will be most obviously useful in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curricula. However, there may be other areas where rockets can be used that we haven't even thought of yet. The program will be similar to NARTREK and will be something that teachers can do on their own, at their own pace, or in cooperation with a local NAR section.

We would like input from teachers on what should be included in this program. If you have made use of model rockets in your classroom we would love to hear from you about what grade level you are teaching, what the lessons consisted of, what learning standard the lessons targeted and what skills and knowledge you feel other teachers would need in order to teach the lessons to their own students. Even if you haven't had an opportunity to use rockets in your own class we would like to hear your ideas on what you think teachers need to know in order to make use of model rockets in the classroom.

If you are a teacher we would like to hear from you. If you know someone who is a teacher and who might be interested in giving us input or possibly even participating in this program, have them contact us.

We also need a catchy name for this program. If anyone has any ideas for this let us know.

Contact Jonathan Sivier at <[email protected]> to submit your ideas or for further information.
