In my Estes Tomahawk...

UNTRIED however!! :D

I note:

that although the plastic practice golf ball fits nicely in this tube (and also becomes a baffle!)

Shock cordage can get between, and behind it, and so I am going to put some wadding on top of it and pack everything carefully. Like 'chute first and cordage last as best I can.

anyway, just going to have to try it out....
(oh and my cord is attached to the top of the motor mount tube.)

Upscaler has a similar idea that he submitted to the Apogee components Newsletter. He uses a Tennis ball

lol, those are soft and fuzzy too :)

for smaller rocket tubes, I was thinking a paddle-ball ??

these golf practice balls, I do have some concern about the edges of the holes....could cut into the cord.

I'd be afraid it would melt, if you don't put some wadding behind it. If it's Kevlar, I wouldn't worry about the golf ball cutting it. Great idea.

For smaller airframes, petstore mini-tennis balls fit well. RexR gave me this one for my Interrogator G.

For larger air frames, I use with a pool toy / noodle or pipe insulation.
