Here is a real old pure scratchbuilt

I don't remember the exact date but probably in the mid 1980's I got back into rockets a little bit. I had plenty of old ones to launch but a friend from work didn't have any so he bought a couple of kits from the local hobby shop and a couple of packs of FSI black powder engines, probably some E's and some F's. He got a few good launches but then he had one lawndart due to no ejection charge. We shortened the tube to try again, and that one had a violent CATO that completely shredded his rocket. He didn't want to work with those engines anymore so he gave me the 2 remaining F's. I didn't want to put money or time into building a fancy rocket, so I got some mailing tubes and cardboard from work and built this monster. It was built to be heavy and tough. We launched it twice and the engines actually worked fine and gave us good flights.

Without measuring, I think it is about 2" diameter and about 24" long.

We got two categories of pilots around here. We got your prime pilots that get all the hot planes, and we got your pud-knockers who DREAM about getting the hot planes.
Now what are you two pud-knockers gonna have?... Huh?”

This rocket reminds me of a Tiny Tim booster with an extra fin. Now you just need to build a Wac Corporal to go on top.
