Another Downscale of a "Scale like" estes sport flying Missile is the Micro Maxx T3 3.5X Sentinel. Looking sorta like and air to air missile it was a nice build and super flyer.

It's even been used in an "open ping-Pong Ball Spot landing" contest recently just for fun. with a little "alteration to the ball it worked just fine LOL!

Estes Sentinel clone with Excelsior decals. I built the actual rocket in 2004-05, but only got around to doing the decals today. Great looking faux-scale bird.

Had one back in the day that seemed to pop off a fin with every flight. At least I still have the original nose cone to rebuild it someday.

:eek:Yeah, been there already. Before I did the decals, I had to do some cosmetic work on one of the fins that had been sprung on a previous flight several years earlier. Nice, clean break, so I just reglued, applied more fillets and some wood filler on the joints. Once it was sanded and primed, you'd never have noticed it.
We'll see how long that lasts.

Here's my Estes and my upscale version. I don't think I've had to replace a fin on the smaller one and the upscale was built with basswood through the wall to the motor mount and then epoxied so he's been really tough. Just refinished the upscale with a new paint job and vinyl decals from Mark at Stickershock.

Just finished this dual-cluster clone, looking forward to trying it out. I wasn't sure about the decal coloring (a bit darker blue, almost purple) at first, but I have to say I like the results.

I've been thinking about doing a 3" upscale with a 38mm MMT, but I'm not sure how the aft fins would hold up to super-sonic flight on a big 38mm motor (J-class).

Is a scale model of an actual missile or does is just have that styling?

Edit: I found my answer
