Every time I see the thread for that earlier Estes Patriot Red,White & Blue model I think it's for the Scale Patriot MIM-104 interceptor Missile.

I know there are at least 3 sizes out there for this missile a Mini 13mm version, a HUGE "pro series" 4" dia 4 motor clustered version and this one
which I think was the original release version 1:10 or so scale BT-60 body 18mm version.
Lots of license was taken as with most KIT semi-scale models. No boattail is attempted and the wiring tunnels I seem to recall were to short and narrow. Also the colors are way-off from everything I've seen on the full size missiles.
Heres the one My Daughter & I did some time ago, Her A-Div Patiot Placed 1st at ECRM-29 and ECRM-31, I'm sure there should be a plenty of other variations available to fill a gallery LOL!!!

Here are mine. The first is the Estes version built stock except for a 24mm MMT. The second is a little goonie-fied version.

I hope its ok I jump in this thread with my Patriot. The rocket is true to scale, including the fins. Many Patriots out there do not use the scale dimensions of the fins due to stability problems, which I overcame by using a larger scale on the fins than the rest of the rocket. After all the trouble/simulations I went through making it look "a lot like the real thing" I put a goofy paint job on it...Patriotic...but not Phased Array Tracking and Intercept of Target themed.

Pics:

Virgin White before its first flight on an M2300 Blue Diablo:

A few flights later with its fading star paint job on an M2225 Infinty SuperBlue:

And most recently (flight #9) on an M3200 Infinity Aluminum Blue

Here's a pic of my Patriots....

One was modified to take (3) 24mm engines stacked on top of one another for CHAD staging. Custom air ducts were incorporated to vent the motors as them resided up in the airframe. The other is your standard Patriot, but I put a 24mm engine mount in it.

The old Patriot starter set was the first model rocket I ever had. In those days even starter sets needed assembly and painting. I left out the "US Army" stickers because I usually launched in a public place such as a park, and I didn't want to risk someone getting scared by a rocket with military markings. Long since then I've joined a club and fly at organised sessions, so the original reason for leaving off the stickers no longer applies. However, as I said, that's my first rocket - I still have it, and I prefer to keep it the way it was in the beginning. :)

my Polecat 7.5" (1/2 scale) Patriot on her first flight. Going up on an M1315-W, and coming down under a 168" Spherachute, (from a tethered dual deployment). These were taken at MidWest Power 6 in Oct 2008. (I took some liberties with the decals.) Her next flight is scheduled for MWP X (Nov 2012), tube-launched from a battery.

Purchased this model in the hopes I could convert not only the Tiny 1/48th Missile but also incorporate the launcher battery into a working launch system.
Just one of the 4 missiles will be launchable but the entire set up would be really COOL if I can make it work. LONG story short, I purchased the rather expensive kit (about 45.00 back then) in 2003. I'm still trying to get the undersized fin Model To fly correctly after 9 semi-successful flights. All seem to end with the model Tail wiggling or spinning just before apogee and ejection.

I'm at the point now that I'm going to increase the fin area and span as wide as possible while still sliding inside the cardstock & stainless foil lines Storage/launch box.

I've also considered just building a T2+ model out of standard micro model parts and flying it out of the launcher/box just for fun. One way or another I intend to finish this PMC launcher build even if it only flys standard semi-scale micro Patriot models;)

Estes Patriot Pro flown with 4xD12-3 just this weekend after a 15 year break...

Of course, after a perfect flight and parachute deployment, it decides to land on a gravel road, right next to the large field we were flying off of. Nothing broken off, but will need some minor gluing, sanding and painting.

Does PR mean Performance Rocketry?

Here is Arizona Rocketry Team's half-scale scratch built patriot battery with all four patriots capable of launch. The picture shows two in flight after a half scale scud launch. The other two patriots launched 1/2 second apart right after this pic was taken by Joyce Chan.

The MIM-104 Patriot is a surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, the primary of its kind used by the United States Army and several allied nations. It is manufactured by the Raytheon Company of the United States, and derives its name from the national football league (NFL) football franchise nearest the company headquarters in Cambridge, MA. The Patriot System replaced the Nike Hercules system as the U.S. Army's primary High to Medium Air Defense (HIMAD) system, and replaced the MIM-23 Hawk system as the U.S. Army's medium tactical air defense system. In addition to these roles, Patriot has been given the function of the U.S. Army's anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system, which is now Patriot's primary mission.

Patriot uses an advanced aerial interceptor missile and high performance radar systems. Patriot was developed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, which had previously developed the Safeguard ABM system and its component Spartan and Sprint missiles. The symbol for Patriot is a drawing of a Revolutionary War-era Minuteman.

Patriot systems have been sold to Taiwan, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Spain. Poland hosts training rotations of a battery of U.S. Patriot launchers. It was first deployed in Morąg in 24 May 2010 but has since been moved to Toruń. The Republic of Korea also purchased several second-hand Patriot systems from Germany after North Korea test-launched ballistic missiles to the Sea of Japan and proceeded with underground nuclear testing in 2006.
