A much better flying Downscale was the Minimum dia. T2+ Micor Nova Payloader. which SCREAMS off the pad on either MMX-I or MMX-II motors.
while the payload sections is a bit on the heavy size it was just long enough to accept one of those 1" fishing cylume sticks after drilling a recess hole in both the basswood Nosecone and Shoulder. It is one of my Nite Flying Micro fleet.

My Standard Nova Payloaders is yellow and Green. I just didn't like it in red.

The One I like the best and fly the most is my 3X 4 D12 clustered Night flying UP Scale. now that's a TRIP!

I need to take a pic of mine and add it. I flew it six times yesterday (trying out various new altimeters) and have become quite fond of how it flies. Mine is close to the cover art in color scheme - it's not bad, really.

Here is my Nova Payloader - which currently has 11 flights on it, all of them carrying at least one altimeter in the payload section. That's thin sheet foam in the PS in the picture.

I built this something on a whim just because another member of my club had one for many years and it seemed to be a good flyer. The looks have really grown on me and now that I've flown it, I like it even better. It IS a very nice flyer.

Nice job, and they are a very good looking and good flying rocket. Forgot to tape my nose cone on and lost it on it's first flight. Got a replacement from Semroc that's just about ready for paint.

And really, ya gotta love that fin shape.

What's in your payload compartment?

Here's my 2.56x upscale Nova Payloader (a Pro Series II Partizon was the principal parts donor). Two flights so far (on baby and mid range Gs), with more planned at NARAM-56.

The original size one in my prior post is up to 65 flights now. I just replaced the shock cord again....

Big_NovaPayloader_1.jpg

My original Nova Payloader (post #9) has now been retired with 75 flights on it and its successor has 9 on it now. This one hasn't yet seen a D10 - maybe this coming summer over in Pasco. That's likely where I'll be able to fly the big one again as well (post #15 - that's where that picture was taken, too.)

I've also started down the path of collecting all the different variants of the kit I can find and have gotten good samples from eBay of the 1992-1998 version and the 2001-2007 version (one each) and I have one each at least of the four variations of the most recent (which differ by what parachute - yellow/black, plain white, plain red or orange/white - is in the kit). But I've not yet seen an example of the first run - when it was listed as skill level 2 (why?) as depicted on the face card on the left in post #2 above. Does anyone else have an example to hand? I can post pictures of the 1992-1998 and 2001-2007 examples in the next few days. I just have to take the pictures.

It's OOP again - the last appearance was in the 2013 catalog. However the 2016 catalog shows a relative of sorts - the Super Nova two-stager - as coming back in the late spring.

Thanks for resurfacing this thread, Bill.

The Nova Payloader is again available, but only from AC Supply and eRockets. This newest edition is sold in bulk-pack form only but both AC and eRockets will sell it singly. There's just no header or face card. This newest version is catalog #1716 as a single kit and 1756 in a pack of 12. It has a different, slightly longer injection molded nose cone than all prior versions and the markings have reverted to a waterslide decal vs. the peel-n-sticks of all but the first version. The new waterslide is otherwise the same as the one redrawn with finer lines for the peel-n-stick markings.

The model I mentioned in post 16 (nine flights then) made it to 101.

I currently have two active Nova Payloaders besides the upscale pictured above in post 15. One was built as a backup for my Classic Model entry at NARAM-60. It currently has 59 flights on it. The other is built from the re-release and deviates from the standard color scheme in using Rusto Real Orange as the base color. This one is at 28 (last flown a week ago on Veteran's Day).

First picture is the Classic Model backup back when it was quite a bit fresher, modeling a replica Centuri LIA-77 that I got from a fellow on YORF. That's an AltimeterThree in the payload section.

Next is the current version, in orange, early in it's career. There is a FlightSketch Mini, inside a little fleece pouch, in the payload section. This model has since had a horrible snap-back episode, been treed, and repaired for at least one other reason, but is ready for it's 29th sortie when conditions allow.

The two lift-off pictures are the same model, flying on beta test Q-Jet C18s. In the last one it is lifting off of an FS-4 Electro-Launch.

(All of these pictures were taken at the park known as Sixty Acres that is the one rocket-friendly park in King County, Washington—when it's not full of soccer players.)
