Sorry, I couldn't help but edit the photo. The background was so bland! Here's my average Baby Bertha... It has been flown once on an A8-3.

I ended up with a Super Big Bertha nose cone in a box of junk. So I built one.
I think this thread needs to be broken up into threads specific to the Ranger, Big Bertha, Baby Bertha, Mini-Bertha, Super Big Bertha, etc.

The galleries are undergoing some modifications. According to the initial concept, rockets are grouped together in families. That is a pretty broad definition, I'll grant, and subject to some degree of subjective interpretation.
The Ranger family was just completed 2 days ago and is in a holding pattern until all the proper files get uploaded (I'm not competent to do that myself...yet). I ask you to reserve judgement until it all gets posted.

The BB is sturdy as anything.

Here's my entry in the Big Bertha collection. It's an Estes kit that I modified with a 24mm E-sized motor mount, figuring that this would make my BB much more versatile - C11s, D12s, E9s, or now E12s. Also, a 3/16" launch lug was substituted for the one supplied in the kit. I added a Fliskits baffle, kevlar shock cord, and decals from Excelsior.
The paints are Rustoleum red and white, with a Future clear coat. I took some liberties with the 1969 catalog look, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. BB remains unflown currently.

BT50 down scale I call Li'l Bertha. I almost had Mark custom draw stickers to look like the original with puffy lettering, but ran out of time to work it out since this was a demonstrator for a class.
Twelve years ago my Little Brother and i (I was a Big Brother) entered our club's (HUVARS) Big Bertha contest.
My Little Brother did the Mercury Bertha and I did the Gemini Bertha.
The Gemini nose cone is just a Big Bertha cone with a wood dowel, slightly tapered, glued on the top.

This is the 1st time I am posting a pic of one of my builds on TRF. I got the B-17 idea from Spacepirate R. I like to honor the WWII Vets. The KITS WORLD decals are of outstanding quality. This is my 6th build as a BAR and on this build I experimented w/primer only for filling fins. Fins came out OK, but I will stick to papering fins in the future.
I have been using Minwax Polycrylic Gloss as a clear coat. It always comes out "bumpy" and dosn't level out. I used Duplicolor Paint on this build, any suggestions for a clear coat? I am a little leary of using future right now.
