I was reading Delta22's awesome thread about his HPR Soyuz build and remembered this photo that a friend took when I was in France on business not too long ago.

We were checking into our hotel near the airport and lo and behold...I look in the lobby near the bar and see an 8 foot model of a Russian Proton rocket sitting there. Odd. It was very nicely done and appeared to be mostly metal with a few plastic parts.

Not sure if this was someone's individual project or if these had been produced for some sort of propaganda / show over there in the past. The lobby / bar area had somewhat of an "aeronautic" theme to it, so I guess they hotel picked it up as decoration.

Regardless, I thought it was super cool... and yes, I was trying to guess in my head what motor (and mock up fins) it would take to to get it in the air.

Has anyone done a flying model of a Proton in a similar scale before?
