    separate LDRS forum?

So why a whole new forum for LDRS-30? Isn't that what the National Events forum is supposed to be for?

The LDRS forums are there as a service to the club hosting LDRS. Those are the official LDRS 30 forums, linked to by the LDRS 30 website. It's a world within a world, as it were, and is broken out according to how they like to break out the LDRS topic areas.

If it all went into the National Events forum, it would step on other discussions, such as NARAM and NSL, and pretty much bury them, which is a disservice to the folks interested in those events.

Once LDRS is over, the LDRS forums will be removed, but National Events will remain.

We'll do the same for other clubs hosting national events that need a bit more proverbial legroom, if they'd like.

This is the prime driver. Specific sub-topics allow those interested to check them every so often and see what's happening specifically with LDRS XXX; those who don't care can ignore them. LDRS is like no other launch, in that people from all over the world attend and flyers focus on that event to launch their really unique high-power projects.

Because of the focus on LDRS, there an incomprehensible number of questions being asked and we (KLOUDBusters) have always had forums for LDRS somewhere which allow us to pool those questions/answers. If someone asks, someone else probably has the same question. By using forums we have to answer the questions fewer times. Split apart from the general forums, they don't get lost in the chatter. TRF is an ideal place to host the LDRS forums due to its high-visibility in the hobby rocketry universe and its great staff.

    Kevin:

Just a little note. I was wondering if there should be launch section that holds nothing but info about the big launches. Oktoberfest, LDRS, Red Glare, NARAM, NARCON, etc.

to keep order and provide info?? Maybe have one locked and allow a host to edit information. I.E. something that can be kept update and then have the reguler banter in a seperate thread.

    Just an idea...

'tis up to the launch organizer to request something. It will then be considered.

As an example, NARAM, NSL, LDRS and BALLS are all a no-brainer. If the organizers want it, I'll create a forum for them.

But if my club wanted me to create a forum for Fire On The Farm, one of our larger launches? No. The launch isn't big enough to justify it.
