A couple basic suggestions

I just was thinking about thing that would make this forum a little more user friendly. Things that I was looking for that couldn't find, or things that to me seem obvious.


1. Sent messages. I can't go back and look at messages I have sent. ex. No response to a Pm I sent a month ago, I will send it to his email, wait what was I asking him about?

2. Quoting. When someone quote me in a message I would like to know about it. If I comment once on a post nonchalantly and I accidently start a war or something I would never know about it without checking the thread again.

3. Pm's. Maybe this is possible and I don't know how to do it but if someone sends me a pm can TRF send me an email letting me know.

4. Last thing. (I dont know if this breaks privacy rules but) Could we make a list of members on here listed by Club(s) they are a part of. One of the guys that I talk to all the time here might be a part of ROC (My home club) or even live across town from me. It would be an easy way to make personal friends and have building parties and stuff


Anyway those are my thoughts along with the motor directory.

I like the club idea, I'd like to see how many TIR members are on here. I know of at least three...

in the messages page just click on "jump to folder" sent messages.

in your personel settings check the box that says,,email me when someone posts a private message(or something like that.)

not sure what you can do about the quote thing.

I have sent probably 100 messages and the sent folder is empty. I have talked with other TRF-ers and they report he same thing.

Ok for the first 2. Got to User CP (top of page)

Then look at the left hand column under Settings and options then click "edit options"

There you will find "The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message."

and also "When sending private messages the forum can make a copy of the message in your Sent Items folder."

Check both of those and that solves the first two. And 3 is almost solved by the setting also on that page that says "When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread."

We don't have that information, so we can't provide it. All we have is your username, the email address you signed up with, and IP history (every site has IP history for users who access it).

The best I can suggest is for people who are interested in it to set their local club in their signature, or elsewhere in their profile, much like some do with the UKRA, NAR, CAR, TRA, etc numbers.

If you'd like to, go ahead. You should be able to find most US clubs by visiting the NAR and TRA websites. I don't recall off the top of my head whether or not UKRA and CAR list local clubs on their sites, and I know even less about other international organizations.

Don't do it literally as a poll; post a thread with a list of all the clubs, and let people reply to it with what clubs they're a member of. Then, as people reply, go back and edit the original message to list the members of each club underneath each one.

Or, you could post a separate thread starter for each club and let people reply to the thread that identifies an organization they belong to. That way, you can just look at who posted in a given thread and tell who the members of that club are.

I don't haver the time to put that together and the deal with starting a separate thread for each club is there are ALOT of clubs just in NAR alone. that would be alot of threads. if someone sees this and wants to take it on please do. I think its a good idea but I have way to much on my plate as of right now

I see that some clubs have started to use the "social groups" feature of the board to assemble a listing of members. I decided to add club logos for the sections of which I am a member (Mid-South Rocketry Society, NAR 550; HARA, NAR 403) in my signature.

Yup, the Social Groups feature (which is hidden away at http://www.rocketryforum.com/group.php) might be the best way to accomplish this. It's just not a very well advertised feature of the site, so not many members know about it. I'd suggest people start a group for their club if there isn't one already, then invite any other members you know to join.
