Whats your all up weight minus the motor?
~1.1oz including tube, fins+fillets, streamer, shock cord, and nose cone.
~2.6oz including nose weight. stupid light body lol
so i think ill get a higher alt than you, but lose the race if we're going for speed off the pad. and i'm still confused how you're getting away with no nose weight when your CG should be pulled so far back since the rocket is so light :O

Anyone going to launch any RC?
I want to bring my phoenix out (F/G reloads). I have launched many times at the monthly ROC event with no problem (I usually set my launcher over on the LP pad 1 with no problem).
I then land to the west (left of the launch equipment, I THINK that is west).
Anyway, I hope this is OK with the NSL?
My boy and I will also launch plenty of small BP stuff as well.
Im not sure if you can or not. I know for regular rc planes you have to do it far away from the rockets. But not sure about rocket boosted gliders. You might want to send ROC an email to find out.
from the rocket boosted gliders i saw at ROCstock last november, it was fine. you got your own RC launcher, but i'd guess they'd want you to go from the second row of pads since the rocket will be launching at a fairly low angle.

Yes I always feel welcome by the ROC guys. It is VERY important to me that I don't become some nuisance for this NSL.
I just like to blast up and then get my glider the heck out of the way of those surface to air missles! I can't image what kind of wake those big guys leave (and I don't want to find out!).
For those that are not aware, about 6 or 7 years ago, a new spread spectrum radio technology appeared, and now we don't need frequency control in the same way we needed before. I can't interfere with others on R/C and vice versa.
I know most people love seeing the RC gliders at the launches.
Whats the weather forecast like for the weekend? It is windy here in Arizona.

hmm, that wind report is way better than weather.com's forecasts. weather only shows highest wind, now how it gets higher throughout the day. and in that case, 6mph winds to 10k ft for my L2
hopefully pads will be set up in an hour or two on thursday. anyone got tips on extra "junk" i should bring that may come in handy?

Wind was extremely low most of the day Friday with extended periods of zero wind. Temperatures were excellent: not too hot, not too cold. I left the field for the hotel around 2 pm.
I'll try to get back out there by 7:30-ish (gotta eat the "free" breakfast at the hotel....). I plan to fly my bigger stuff tomorrow - most likely in the G to J range. Nothing super exciting - no electronics outside of a Pratt noise making "beacon". The heaviest rocket is "ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD" which has flown on a J350.
Time to go explore the area around the hotel for an hour until other folks get back here and we decide where to eat dinner.

I attended the NSL on Saturday.
The wind was holding at a constant 6-8 MPH.
That did not stop many people from flying (Or walking a long distance to recover their rockets).
The launch shut down about 1:30 PM when the wind exceeded 20 MPH.
I hope the weather is better for Sunday.

evel knievel and i got our L1 today at NLS. a H238 was our choice. couple little burns in (umbrella) i mean chute, and a little road rash. i do not think im going to try and repaint it cause the wind and dirt destroy 80% of everyones rockets.borrowed the case from jack,thanks. what brand and size of HP cases should i start with aerotech or cti . btw bandmans mean machine was awesome.
Thanks for the complements on the Mean Machine, it was an incredible launch and Sunday looks to be even better!

Congratulations on your L1! In regards to what motor casings you should buy, CTI or Aerotech (Rouse-tech), there are good arguments for both form-factors.
Aerotech is very common as many of its reload kits in the 29mm range can be shipped USPS without a HAZMAT fee, and until you get up to the larger 38mm and higher reloads, they are cheaper. However, the Aerotech reload is more complicated to assemble, the hardware is more expensive, and their delay adjustment system is not as flexible as the CTI version.
Cesaroni (CTI) is less common as you cannot get any of their reloads (including the Pro24 stuff) without someone paying the HAZMAT fee so if your launch site vendor does not carry CTI, you get stuck with an extra $25 shipping fee. CTI reloads are far easier to assemble (adjust the delay with the appropriate ProDAT, plug the delay module back into the plastic liner, stuff it all into the casing and either screw it in with Pro38 or screw on the aft closure in the Pro29 and Pro24) and the ProDAT adjustment has much more flexibility for delay timing. The CTI reloads are usually more expensive than the Aerotech reloads, but the hardware is a good bit cheaper.
I personally prefer CTI, since I tend to assemble my reloads out at the launch site and I would rather not deal with little tiny pieces that are a bit too easy to drop into the grass.
Bottom line, buy whatever the on-site vendor has reloads for. Those guys are essential to the club launches, so we need to support them.

hehe, i was there for 4 days, and i can tell you, it's tiring
thursday: got there at 8. Started pad setup around 10-12, and finished by 2. no wind whatsoever, and yet nobody felt like spending the energy to launch since it was hot.
friday: people started to arrive. i did pad managing for a while and not too many people came up, still no wind until about 2-3.
saturday: like vinny said, good wind until about 1:30 when it picked up to ~25mph with upto 40mph gusts. night was calm and launches went great.
sunday: still processing, but me and tominator2 did our drag race. kind of unfair since i was able to scratch my burn area to get a faster/stronger burn and the lms was unavailable to him, but that little playa colored rocket is gone for good, unless someone finds it, which would be great since the thing won't degrade
all in all, an amazing launch, got to meet trip barber and a ton of people from the forum and help em through the pad nightmare on saturday.
