Mad Cow Torrent - July 28th, 2012 on an H125 C.
I had a camera inside the rocket because I didn't want to risk a mishap caused by a camera strapped to the side. Unfortunately, the camera shut off when the ejection charge fired.
I plan to Level 2 on the same rocket soon.

Congrats on the level 1! And awesome paint job! The frankenstrat paint job just looks fantastic on rockets. I've got a 1.5" rocket painted the same way, but I used silver instead of white.

Here's my Level 1, a 2.63" scratch built named 'Zosma'. 2365 ft on an H128W, August 12th.

Pink Crayon conversion on a H123W to 1250', the Red Crayon was supposed to be my L1 rocket, it however suffered a fatal crash when I got a bonus delay on a G76G earlier in the day. The shock cord was long enough that the chute and nose cone were about 20' off the ground when the chute opened which saved the altimeter (which was just along for the ride), however the shock cord was long enough that the airframe slammed into the ground. There is even a build thread on these twin rockets.

CERTainly more people have gotten their L1's since October 2015... You know who you are... Photos people... Pictures (or it didn't happen).

Mostly Stock Estes Mammoth at 1.5lb on an AT H97J-M (10s) reload.

Noseblow simmed at 3,300ft, JLCR at 300ft,. Nobody saw it come down but it was less than a quarter mile away.

The blue tape is there so I could z-fold it to fit it in my tiny old car.IMG_20170904_105743.jpeg

Couldn't release the pin to lower the rail at that pad, so I launched it from a rod -- which made for a longer recovery walk.

My L1 cert was the very definition of low and slow. I thought I'd post pics of my L1 and L2 rockets to see if anyone else had a bigger L1 rocket than their L2 rocket.

IMG_4197s.jpg Here’s my L1 rocket. 4” cardboard MadCow Super DX3 on an H123W on Oct 20 2018 at the SNMRA site near Alamogordo.

Flew it with an empty internal AV bay — added the electronics and DD charges for my L2 flight the following month.

Flight pics are frame grabs from iPhone video, so not so great resolution. Lucked out with the landing spot!

Hi everyone,

In the next several posts I will show a few photographs from my successful L1 Certification flight. As I note in my signature, I performed the flight on 11 August 2018 using a Minie-Magg powered by a Cesaroni H123-14A Skidmark at the Central Sod Farm under the auspices of the Maryland Delaware Rocketry Association (MDRA).

Hi Steve,

OK. Thank you. It's no big deal. I was about to upload one last file, namely, a video of my L1 flight. Then I saw that this cannot be done. So, I will just leave the post.

Stanley,
If your video has been uploaded to YouTube, or some other common video site, you can use the "Media" ?button? (between the "Image" button and the "insert" button) to add the video here.

Also, you can load more than one image per post... I think it's maxed out at 10 per post.

Wildman RB-05A Sport. 2500ft on an AT H-123. It’s flown on many AT H130W’s since. Check the sig for details. Last summer at Rembert SC. Big thanks to CJ. Never knew this thread existed.

Hi K'Tesh,

Thank you for that information. I will consider uploading the video to some video site.

I started to load several pictures to one post, but it became awkward (or maybe I wasn't doing it right). It seemed better to use a few different posts, each containing one picture. Perhaps, however, one post with several photographs would have been more convenient for the readers.

I did my initial L1 on a BSD Sprint back in April 2003, then got out of the hobby a year later due to many reasons, the biggest being that I was a poor student at the time. I got back into the hobby in late 2019, and picked up a Binder Design Excel (build thread here), built it, and flew my L1 recert at Fire In The Sky 2017 at Mansfield, WA on a I243G. Sadly the Excel was lost less than a month later on its third flight when the main failed to open.

Okay, here's some rocket porn... ;) Got my NAR L1 at an MDRA launch on Sunday!

Beautiful launch of a Madcow 4" Patriot on an Aerotech H115 Dark Matter -- LOVE the sparky motor! The Patriot is scale, so those stubby fins yield a CP that required 1 lb. of nose cone weight (plasticene modeling clay, since someone on TRF mentioned how well it works, and it was less than $3 at Hobby Lobby).

Here are my LOC IV and Cowabunga. I am hoping to have a successful NAR L1 flight at NARAM next month. I'm also hoping to have a TRA L1 flight later in the year. Then, study, study, study for L2 exams.

First - Level 1 Certification

Second - Level 2 Test & Certification

Third - Level 3 Certification

The Level 3 test is pictured below . . .

Scott,
Assuming you belong to both, once you certify L1, L2, or L3 in either organization you can send a copy of the signed certification form to the other organization’s HQ and you will receive the same certification level. You don’t have to fly two different certification flights. You should still fly as many flights as you can, but this way you don’t have to worry about failing the second flight.
