This started out as non-rocket related. I needed something to mount a series of LED "pucks" to, for undercounter mounting. Saw the perfect thing sticking out of my neighbor's trash barrel. Wooden blind slats. They're straight, flat, fairly hard, and pre-painted. Don't know what the wood is - basswood? poplar? I later asked and found she goes through about a set a year; her dogs tear the cords up. I've now got two 48" x 72" sets of slats. Not all of the length of the slat is useful (without modification) because of the holes where the cords go through. These holes can probably be patched, or shorter lengths can be spliced together. This also give me consistent thickness strips for making kumiko.
