Yes - very exciting watching this develop - ESA and the UK Government previously gave the project €10M and £50M respectively (Financial Times, 11/7/16). The engine design appears to have evolved since then.

Super cooling the external atmosphere on the way up, producing and saving your own oxidizer...... saves a heck of a lot of weight :) The Sabre engine design has been around for a while, but, yeah.... technicalities
 
And when are the hobby grade variants coming for experimental light aircraft industry. Ol' Burt Rutan and a few other Dorks would love the theoretical performance gains.
