With suicide burns becoming more used and common thanks to SpaceX using them to land their boosters, I decided to write up a quick two part post going over the math behind them. The first part, which can be found here, goes over the system dynamics and works on simulating the system in Matlab. Part two, which can be found here, focuses more on the analytical math behind suicide burns.
