I spent 5 years in Afghanistan contracting with the MC-12W. The main thing that kills the MC rate is the Minimum Essential Systems List. In the old days you had a special column that only applied during wartime or combat. Now they ground aircraft for a beacon light that doesn’t work.....oh and they fly “dark” in theater. So basically they grounded birds for a light that didn’t work that they were going to shut off anyway. Go figure.
