I am curious about a particular instruction for the North Coast Rocketry SA-14 Archer. First, a wire is attached to the Forward engine mount bulkhead, then an elastic shock cord is attached to the wire which is attached to a clip which goes to the nosecone. Fine. But then I also attach a very long Kevlar shock cord to the wire and tie that on to the nosecone; and finally, attach the parachute to the nosecone. Are the two shock cords for redundancy? What is the logic of the two shock chords? Just curious. I like to know not only what to do but why I'm doing it.
