Great flight today with NCR at Pawnee NG.

2,863' and 294mph on the AT 54/852 J315R

Perfect HED deployment, ready to fly again on something bigger.

58 and 24 fps drogue/main descent rates on 18 and 72" spherachutes.

The DRM had its second flight yesterday at the Pawnee National Grasslands with NCR. AeroTech 54/1280 J415W (93% J) to 4,957' AGL @ 424 mph.

The paint on the rear CR is looking kind of toasty after sitting on that J415 fireball for 3.5 seconds and it lost a little paint from flexing a fin on a hard landing, but mechanically it's ready to go again. Next up, the 1706 K456!

Video from the J415W:

For this flight I changed to a skinnier and shorter ~18', 1/4" 3,000lb MAC sewn kevlar harness on the main for more packing room in the NC.

I'm considering drilling a hole in the air frame to install an 808 camera mount, though the wiggly smoke trail at ~0:34 makes me wonder if the rocket is rolling enough that the on board video would be junk. Maybe that's just how the 4 holes on the medusa nozzle make smoke at burnout?

FiberMax K456DM flight went great on the farm last weekend (yes, with a CoA). Reached 4,721' and 648 ft/s and landed in my parents' front yard. Lower than the previous J415W (similar total impulse) due to extra weight of a second altimeter and the dense/humid Iowa air!

Now that the 1706 case fits it will be tempting to try a K550W.

Thanks, AfterBurners!

Flew my FiberMax last weekend on a K550W to 6,078' with Northern Colorado Rocketry. Before the flight I added a bolt on 808 camera mount, so this video has pretty decent on board footage too.

Went just fine, super straight! Guess I have to buy a K1103X?
