    Fraudulent charges

Anyone else have fraudulent charges on their credit card after Black Friday sales? I don't want to mention any names, but
this is the second time for me after buying from a certain vendor. If so, would you kindly PM me what vendor you had issues with. Thanks

I don't know you or your situation, but here is a little info that may prove to be absolutely useless. Some vendors will charge small amounts to your CC to make sure the card is valid. Later they charge the purchase amount, then issue a refund on the small amounts.

No, I'm not sure at this point if it's the vendor I'm thinking it is or not. But if other people have had problems, I'd like to find out before I
notify the CC company and stop doing business with said vendor. The first purchase with this vendor was at the beginning of the year. After that my cc# was
compromised. 10 months later it happens again with same vendor. It may be a coincidence, and I'd like to find out for sure if I can.

The first time was a completely different charge to a company I've never heard of, but in the same area as the vendor. Actually, there were 2 vendors the first time around.
The second time was just one vendor and a charge to a different company in the same area. It's like an employee is using info, or it's getting intercepted somehow.
Just trying to figure it out.

Oh, now I get it. You are not seeing fraudulent charges by the vendor. You think your card has been compromised due to insufficient web security. Yikes.

Years ago when I was heavy into RC this exact same thing happened to me..
I placed an order with the place for some servos I had wanted..
Then got a call from my bank about a $3000 charge in China..
    Card turned off immediately,,
10 days to get a new card,, there was something else RC that I wanted and had been waiting for the new card to purchase..
Friday afternoon I got the new card,, activated it,, gave the number to this RC shop,,
immediately get a call from my bank,, another $2500 charge from China...
I begged and pleaded with my bank to go after the RC shop..
The bank refused,, said it simply costs more money and won't get them the fraudulent charges back....

    Contact your CC company ASAP.
Some issuers have requirements as to how quickly you need to notify them after you notice suspect charges, so nothing good will come from delaying this step.

The most likely outcome is that the CC company will credit you for the amounts, initiate charge-back to the fraudsters, and issue you another CC with a different #.

OK, so why are you being so mysterious with the vendor name?
It doesn't really matter what others think about that vendor - your experience is factual, and you should have nothing to worry about sharing it.

No I did get a $12.50 remainder shipping notice which including a partial of Hazmat charge at Wildman... It was the way my order added up its awkward to explain. With the discounts applied the hazmat charge wasn't at full price is the best I can explain it as. But I the end user had to initate the money transfer through Wildman's website as if it was a standard order through website after a notification email. I know a h219-14T needs a HAZ charge. And when I first placed an order it lacked the correct HAZMAT fee. Tim has done no wrong.

First of all, I was notified by the CC company about the bogus charge. It was declined by CC company, so no problem for me other than resetting every
autopay I have set up. Secondly, even if I knew for sure it was a certain vendor, I'm not going to trash them online because of a bad employee or something like that.
I would notify the company manager or president and let them know about the issue. I'm just trying to see if there is some connection with this company and other people
in this community before moving forward. Doesn't that seem to be the right thing to do? I seriously doubt the company is behind this, so why give them a bad name?

I would call my situation unfortunate. But not fraud since Tim offers a known service. Now if your talking of some else hacking whatever company data and then charging your card with a bunch of sh*t I guess there is issues you are having.

Had it happen long ago to a debit card and I had to cancel the card at a bank. They laughed as a 120 lb male doesn't need weight loss pills.

At this point you don't seem to be certain just where you are with this yet..
Until you get it figured out you are 100% correct not to bring anyone's name into it..

I just had a member here PM me with a compromised CC after the black friday sale, and he confirmed the same vendor I thought it was. If anyone else had this problem,
please PM me so we can notify the vendor with our concerns as a community, and not just one of us saying, "I think you have a problem". If several of us had problems,
then they will fix it instead of blow it off.

As a concerned community member, it would be a service to us to name said vendor, or at least the "other company" making unauthorized charges to CC's. Been some reputable vendors with nice products around here before and then deciding to go out of business but first ripping lots of us off!!

I think this is more of an infected computer problem rather than intentional. Everyone that bought something during BF sales needs to keep an eye on CC charges.

Your posts may be confusing to folks casually reading this thread-- to be clear, this is not fraud, nor did Wildman's cause fraud to occur on your card. I would recommend that you edit or delete your comments so as to avoid that implication.

Headed to Nevada in RV. Stopped at grocery store to pick up viddles.
30 minutes down the road, CC bank sends notice on phone......a charge from XXX [don't remember] for 600.00 in Tampa Florida.

Obviously the CC figured out no way charge 180.00 in ILL ...& 12 minutes later be in Tampa charging 600.00

Investigation showed card numbers from that store were going to Tampa almost instantly, and within minutes, same card# were being used there locally.

Poor ba$terds in Store one had no idea it was happing.
In this day and age, quicker you react, faster the resolution & maybe caching one.

That's strange, I never heard of a $12.50 haz mat charge.
There must be more to this then a simple haz mat charge.

My card has no unusual charges since BF. The bank calls it a computer service but the order amount seems legit of what I ordered. Not providing a tracking number or order confirmation is highly suspicious but not illegal. Miscalculating shipping costs by a website error is an accidental mishap. Telling a customer a discount then adding more shipping fees is misleading but not fraud. I'm giving Wildman a break. The guy keeps his word but there are other BAD people on this planet that do steal from legal transactions in ways you don't see or know easily. You ever have a vending machine hack with FBI agents dragging a Russian student off a college campus at gun point? That Russian dude got extradited and felony charges over federal student aid going missing. Student IDs were like preloaded credit cards no CSC code. Dumbest idea ever. The other was when software stole my info in the past and the bank notices odd behavior.

I've have lived through fraud where people other than the vendor start charging a crap ton of charges months after to locations never visited to an order. That has not happened at Wildman to me yet. What happens is either the network gets hacked during a transaction by an unwanted bad actor or a physical card reading location is compromised. I have seen both of those happen in my lifetime but not at Wildman. The other guy had placed orders with multiple vendors and his card was compromised somewhere with "additional charges" months later in a classic fraud by third unwanted party type case. I have bought non rocket stuff elsewhere in my way past and had a load of $1.55 services tacked on for stuff I never even ordered. So I know what the OP feels. It hurts when it hits. For all I know he could have had issues with a physical store brick and mortar vendor, but only that guy knows.

Sorry if I came off spiteful. The bank can close a card and call vendors but it hard to find where it even starts, and when You notice it's often too late. Bad memories from bad times. I've had good experiences at Wildman compared to other non rocketry vendors. Sorry if I come off as grumpy as f***.

Seen people shot to death on a college campus by a shooter bringing a firearm to an idiotic non firearm zone just across the street in a sidewalk. Seen security shoot at another shooter for bringing weapons into campus drunk and arguing. Been shot at before. Been hit with a pickup truck by accident. I told that driver I'd seen worse. I got up and Walked off. But fraud when it happens for real is in the never forgettable territory of feelings. You are the victim at that point do to no wrongdoing of your own and you must move on. It will piss you off almost as bad as seeing an unarmed civilian die pleading for life on the streets of America for literally nothing when you know you could've done something had you had something to fight back with. But lawyers take that right away with damn signs. People used to say "Welcome to Memphis." It was a sh*thole of place to live at all bullet ridden. And people will create laws preventing security forces or yourself from legally defending yourself or others in time of need. It's bad in a city when the cops wouldn't show up, lol.

Yeah real fraud is something I don't want to remember. It remembers you basically. I'm gonna go get a coffee and be thankful I'm still breathing. The thing about fraud is you can't punch the jerk that did it.

There I re-worded it. Wildman is not doing any bad business. The discounts had changed the shipping prices basically on my end which looked really weird in email but weren't anything harmful. Tim has always been very polite and easy to deal with. He notified me of the issue of my order and the issue is resolved. I edited the post. Let me know if it's still awkward.
I've had third party fraud issues in past but thankfully it is not occurring again with any rocketry vendors.

I'm not trying to sound cool. It's a distant memory one should never have to have. Christian Brothers University had a two shooting incidents and a actual fraud case with a student. I transferred elsewhere. My card was hacked in Memphis. Can't afford a counsellor. I will try not to ramble as much.

BTW, one reason why it's very important to notify the merchant immediately is that just about all vendors are on shared platforms. It's altogether possible for a client on a shared system to have a vulnerability that results in compromise of other clients on the same system. It's also possible the vendor has no idea their site has been compromised.

    Compromises happen. They suck.

Do the vendor a favor and let them know when you suspect their system may be compromised ASAP.
