Not your reports, but the launch reports I've read in Rockets magazine the last year or two have been terrible. Lots of different variations on "the rocket flew up into the sky" (i.e. vaulted, hurled into, ascended, etc). I suppose I could write something better. Or at least, with a little more variety :)

@Steve- you definitely don't want a painting tutorial from me.. usually my painting consists of

"What color would look good that I haven't used in the past 2 rockets... ok, red it is"
...lots of crappy taping, including tape getting stuck to tape, tape getting stuck to other things, dust being taped down, tape stuck to myself, etc
.. spray paint
Paint gets on the rocket with lots of drips and runs. Paint gets on my glasses.. it doesn't come off easy. I also have painted the driveway and at least two of our garbage cans by accident. We also won't speak about the incident where our blue Honda CR-V got a bunch of orange paint on the hood. I caught hell for that one.
.. pull off tape
.. runs everyhere- rocket has a strange mottled look. Also the tape pulled some of the previous paint job off, because I didn't let it dry enough.
.. no time to fix it, as the launch is tomorrow, so I'll just kind of smuggle it under my coat so no one laughs at it.

And what makes you think we wouldn’t enjoy a humorous article that rivals what many of us experience? I think that a lot of what we enjoy in this hobby is just meeting people. A humorous article about problems most of us have had is an interesting way to do it.

I doubt that! "Boring and basic" are not words I'd associate with you sir!

I used to write up launch reports for Midwest Power annually. Stopped for two reasons: 1. Extreme Rocketry went away, and Rockets Mag went all digital; and 2. Never heard any positive feedback, only negative. Wasn't looking for a sticker, thanks, or praise...but when you only hear the bad, well...:cyclops:

Now I feel bad that I never took the time to write a note of high praise to you... Your launch reports were always the highlight of any launch I attended (or not)... Your pictures were always awesome and made you feel like you were there. Not just rocket pictures, but of the people and other tidbits along the way during the weekends.

Yeah, I got BP dust in my leopard a while back- I think it got into the atomics of the computer itself, and now I can only type in XKCD substitutions... It even spread to the atomics in my cat. I have to post from my Pokedex most of the time now...

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a rocket to avenge...

MaxQ, some of the old Rocketry Planet can still be found on the web. I found the full article and the 7 lessons on the Honest John upgrade.

I could not provide a full link to the article, for some reason it failed when trying to open the complete address, but here is a link and instructions to get to the article. While i could open the text, I was unable to open the pictures. Not sure if it's my computer or the way things were archived. At least the text will get you started.

Clicking on the link will take you to the home page of "archive.org".
In the "Wayback Machine" box type in "rocketryplanet.com" and enter.
A page will open with different years across the top and a calendar below that.
Click on 2008 and some of the date's will highlight.
Scroll down to December and click on the 1st.
The home page from the Rocketry planet on that date will show.
Click on "Features", and you will find the article on the Honest John.
