Moving overseas in a few months and am trying to thin out some unnecessary rocketry items. Rocket Tiltometer 2 in perfect condition. Flown once and worked perfectly. Won't get to the big project I planned to use it in, so it needs to go before I pack the house. $200 OBO. Thanks.

Arrived today (earlier than USPS forecast). Thanks, Matt.

Good device and the only one with tilt control outside of Altus Metrum products (for now). I believe Multitronix is very close to releasing something along those lines. For the record, the only reason the Tiltometer went out of production is a specific
part could no longer be obtained. Kurt

Congrats Sather on the purchase. Your starting to get quite a collection there.

I have (2) two stagers coming right along in the construction phase. I really want to utilize tiltometer for the extra peace of mind.

Looking for some knowledge from TRF group,

When I read the features on numerous rocketry electronics that make me think there is a tiltometer on them but when I check further- they seem to not be the real thing.

Are there any current electronics commercially available that have tiltometer in them? The items listed in above post- anyone have experience wth them?

I appreciate any help you might have to offer.

That's it for now for true tilt detection. Word is Multitronix is close to releasing something like that: https://www.multitronix.com/

There are others that do time and altitude thing but not tilt detection. Even with Tilt detection I hear there can be issues if one really goofs on weight an balance and the rocket starts doing loops.

Scariest flights I've seen is with aft CG. Big or small will scare the poop out of anyone: Should have done a sawhorse test with that one. Kurt

Thank you so much for your knowledge. I’m going to be doing some studying and may have some other questions . Again thank you.

I was told the AIM XTRA is able to tilt detect as well.

Thank you, Russ. Yup, I have two now. Still bummed I missed acquiring Chuck H.'s new-in-package one a few years back. I tend to stick with what I know (consistent setup and K.I.S.S.), and the Tlltometer has worked for me flawlessly. Nice to have a spare now that they are OOP. Interestingly, they are only 6 apart in production serial numbers... they probably sat in near vicinity together on a bench top in the past as well. I like to anthropomorphize everything - they were happy to be reunited.

I have been working with Ed Chess on an Arduino based device that MIGHT be able to add some decision-making based on attitude. In full disclosure, I'm not really savvy on either the hardware or the programming, I'm just a solderer and test-bed guinea pig, but it does have in its design the ability to control 2 post-liftoff events (airstart groups, for example), which is something that would require 2 Tiltometers.

In any event, this is a market in need of a product. We fly a lot of staged and/or airstarted motors, and having something capable of making consent decisions based on real-time situations is preferable to running a timer with your fingers crossed. It is a complicated problem and we are a small market, so don't expect any help from Gates or Musk.

I know we are a long way from self-driving cars, but there is some overlap. How does a self-driving car know whether the object that just appeared in its flight path is blowing garbage or a child retrieving a ball? The answer would make a huge difference in the outcome of you were on a narrow road with oncoming traffic and no escape path.

But, hey... we are way off topic for a completed transaction in the Yard Sale. Lets move this discussion to here ...

I believe that it measures tilt and rotation but cannot make decisions based on the data.

I know this reply is 5 months late, but I wanted to set the record straight on the AIM Xtra. The following is a quote from the August 2016 users manual.

The Max Angle spinner specifies the maximum angle from vertical under which the pyro
channel is active. The default value is 180° so if you are using the pyro channel to initiate a
staging event (e.g., motor ignition) then the setting should be reduced to an angle deemed safe
for your launch considering the rocket design and area (0° is considered vertical so the setting is
often in the range of 5° to 10°)

The AIM Xtra will provide the function of the Tiltometer, as well as all the other altimeter and GPS locator functions that it has on board.
IF you have any questions, Contact Gary Stroick at "Off We Go Rocketry". His company is the sole US distributor of the Entacore products and he has been
a wealth of knowledge for me, and is always willing to help and support anyone who asks in our rocketry hobby. Good Luck!
