Thinking about sticking the bulk plate behind the coupler and securing the coupler to the cone with screws to give more room in parachute compartment. Anyone done this?
 
Yes, though I glue in a centering ring of sort and glue the coupler as well, then I bolt my bulkhead to the centering ring. If your parachute is a tight fit then try to make sure it won't get stuck inside the NC coupler.
 
floating nut plates ? I normally use a deployment bag so I don't think I will have any issue there. I have a V2 I use head end deployment out the nose cone without any issues.
