Oh, so I've suspiciously ignored the Topper in this photo set? I botched the seam on Cone #1, and I've got #2 goin' in the Shop. Thought I'd be better-served going the HCM route: clipping the printed tab, gluing my own tab, and enjoying a flush butt joint.
What a Gol Durn Fantastic Model! I just can't even hardly believe this thing. A Big Hand for J. Flis, amiright?
If I were Airbrush-Capable I'd like to make this a patchwork of blues, but I'm leaning heavily towards an Astron Ranger Livery. Can you see it, with the shiny Red Capper? The black vertical line and roll pattern'll work well to accentuate the Spitfire's angularity. Black, white, & yellow fins, too.

Nice. If you do some Googling, you'll find some of these that have been done up in awesome steampunk style. Got to get me one someday.

I spread a layer of 15 minute epoxy on the interior surface of the cone and inserted the base up to the premarked lines. As the epoxy sets I'll paint the cone with CFW, and sand, until it's a cone I can live with. I cut the toothpick register at 7/8".

Just for that, Jim, I'm gonna keep ya posted! And, Thank You!

And, more of most of the arduous deh-tails:

I didn't follow the contour of the tube when masking the black, I arched the mask upward between the the fins. Dang it! I'll be more patient, next time, maybe.
Everything's gotta be wet-sanded, now. And I've gotta do another coat of white up top, it looks dull in comparison to the fin.
I sprayed a sheet of Clear Decal Paper with 2X SG Black; I'm gonna try that for a low-profile roll pattern.

Marigold's really good at what it does, eh Amsterdam? I've tried it on a Big Bertha in Mark Livery and to make a Block M on a Deuce's Wild.
Alas, I was just thinking to myself that there oughta be some kinda mid-ground between Sun and Marigold. WELL, I just glanced at the Rusto Site, and...

...I didn't know, I didn't realize,

...there's IS a middle, called Golden Sunset! (New for '16?) Finally, there's a Rustoleum Answer to 3oz. cans of Testors 1214 Gloss Yellow.

I hope the guys at the middle-school ball field realize I painted my Goblin Sun Yellow before the advent of Golden Sunset! :p

Golden sunset didn't appear at my Home Depot till july of this year. Another new color I saw was poppy red can't remember if it was satin or semi gloss. Should be a good looking color though.

Nose Cone in Apple Red.
Aaaargh! My decals are curling on me! I'm a take a deep breath and look at them later.

Found a roll of Con-tact Chalk Board Covering at Home Depot, $8.97. Knocked off the surface with a little sanding, and cut in 1/2" strips. ( I'd beat my QC Guy for cutting the strips across a fold in newsprint, and for following the printed grid on the back of the Con-tact Paper instead of measuring, but his morale's already in the crapper.) Should I have just bought a roll of Electrical Tape? The rolls I looked at were 3/4", but I see online that 1/2" is available. I've been averse to electrical tape because of the imagined stretching, but laying it on a rocket's different from covering a wire splice.

Really like the direction you took this! It’s nice. I think you will be happier with the chalkboard tape even if cutting it was a bitch. Should stay put, plus the matte finish is wayyy nicer than some shite electrical tape.
