I just recently picked up an AIM XTRA to fly in a 54mm minimum diameter rocket, as well as a 7-element Arrow Antennas Yagi for the base. I am using the included quarter wave (I think) antenna on the XTRA. With this combination, I seem to be getting unreasonably low signal strength, between -50 and -130 dbm, according to the RSSI data in the BASE software. This signal strength was measured from only about 500 meters away from the transmitter.

Can the RSSI numbers in the BASE software bu trusted, do I have a hardware issue, or are these numbers to be expected with this unit?

I've tracked to 19,000' without loss of lock during a Mach 1.7 flight. Landed 1.5 miles away, didn't lose reception until touch down. Immediately regained once I got within a mile or so.

That's using the stock Base antenna with the stubby Xtra antenna.

Let me know if you ever want to sell it :)
