By the way, how did you plan to connect the receiver to the USB ?
I searched on the web about the usb, and I find some solutions. It could be very interesting, even for any other electronic project to have a serial to usb adapter for android. There is one, but it cost $30 + ship..it's too much.
I did a search a begining of the project and found the bluetooth the easiest solution, but now I'm more experienced.

A USB OTG cable should be all you need, but your device has to support OTG.

I'm not going to mess with it!:surprised: I'm going to modify the 3Dr transceiver as described in the $25.00 GPS locator tracker thread. The $25.00 accounts for the price of the tracker stuff not the GPS chipset, and associated
other bits, lipos connectors etc. Still, it would be less than an EggFinder setup if someone was really financially strapped. Ten years ago could spend $800.00 or more for a complete APRS tracking setup and an NMEA setup cost
a bit more than that. Times have changed. Kurt

You cannot just plug a serial device in the usb port. You need a serial-USB converter.
I thought people were talking about the ground side radio module, which is USB. If your device is serial, likely TTL-RS232, there are loads of different adapters out there that should work fine. Not sure it's worth the hassle over Bluetooth, but it might be for some applications.
