This year's winner of the Erik Gates Memorial Scholarship is Tripoli member #15354, and hails from Santa Cruz, CA. In addition to an outstanding high school academic record, he was Captain of a TARC team from Santa Cruz County; his team was a National Finalist. Some of his many accomplishments: He was invited to speak at the California State Assembly in favor of AB467/Pyrotechnic Devices: Model Rockets; he won the Santa Cruz County Science & Engineering Fair with "Project Arrow: Autonomous Rocket Return On Wings" and he won 3rd Place in Category at the 2016 Intel International Science & Engineering Fair with that project. He will attend Lewis and Clark College this fall as an Experimental Physics/3-2 Engineering major.
