Thats correct. The resultant shape depends on how big and what shape the darts are. They can be curved or straight and I've had some go half way to the top. What you want to do is make a paper pattern and draw a line to sew along, that way they will all be consistent.

i'll need to try that. I have attempted making "straight" cuts at the perimeter and "radiused" with no discr
ernable difference while inflated, these "darts" are something that I'd never thought of.Thank you for your constructive input, should
be helpful to all.
