I been building some launch pad rockets. And getting ready to launch some. Question is how much wadding the directions just state install wadding. I have the sparrow, sidewinder, phoenix, falcon and maverick

The first rule of "The Launch Pad" kits is to discard the instructions. As per the instructions included, the typical margin for error is great, and the product is intended for builders that can negate the narrow stability margins inherent with most of the scale or semi-scale representations of the missiles depicted.
I personally use a patch of Nomex in my rockets, and that is what I do with my Launch Pad Kits. I tend to build a heavier rocket, but I make sure the weight is mostly toward the nose, so my stability is at the peak of what it can be. The proof of my techniques are represented in the actual flight characteristics:

Use "dog barf" (cellulose insulation) found at most big box home improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot. Just place approximately two calibers (body tube diameters) worth in the tube.

If I remember correctly, TLP kits usually have a chute shelf. In this case I'd consider using a Nomex chute protector.

If you build your 2.6 inch Launch Pad kits on the light side you MAY be able to use Estes D12-3 motors. However, most people use Aerotech 24mm E or F motors as they have a lot more oomph and Launch Pad kits usually need that.

Going completely stock (2.6") and cheap with the Mylar parachute, I just put a few sheets on top of the Fallschirmhaltenrung with a hand full of dog barf. The sheet wadding prevents the dog barf from falling through the hole and making a mess. Lots of TLP info on this forum. You pack the Sidewinder like any other rocket.

The German word is so much better and it is clearly printed on the part in the Das Model - Noris kits. Parachute holding ring, sounds so blah. Chute anti-slippage ring? Silly TLP chute shelf ring thing that is often confused as a baffle. Hard to install 6 inches down the thin walled tube ring where the Titebond glue will shrink and leave a ridge. Gotta love yer TLP!
