My Estes Mercury Redstone has been in active service since 1987 and it last flew this past weekend. It's been refurbished once, with a baffle added, new paint and new decals. I also modified the capsule so that it comes down heat shield first.

Great to see an original K-41 Mercury Redstone still being flown!
I remember trying to cut out and round the tower dowels and six piece fins.

Yes: I still have my original K-41 Mercury Redstone in flying condition from January 1973. It is one of 6 rockets that survived a Storage room break-in that almost destroyed my "First Fleet". Just by luck the Merc-Redstone, Saturn-1B and Saturn-V along with 3 other models were in the house at the time of the break-in.

I fly these "vintage" rockets at special occasions.

It's always great to see these old models on the pads. Good looking flight photos.
