    New Sub-Forum on Galleries

How are new sub-forums inserted on the Galleries?

I really wish they'd merge all threads into one sub in the gallery.

I'm not sure that they are anymore, effectively speaking. There was one person that was handling it, as I recall, and that person hasn't been about in a while...

There is a theory that states that if anyone figures out why the universe is for or why it is here, it will suddenly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarrely inexplicable.
There is another theory that says this may have already happened...

Do you remember who was handling it? If not, I'll start checking it out.

And what new sub forums would be needed if another was to be added?

I have found JAL3 use to do it. They have not been around since August 2016.

John Lee (JAL3) preceeded you as a moderator on this forum. The galleries were his brainchild and sort of a labor of love on his part: trying to impose some database-like organization on the ol' forum. Some of these posts may give you some insight into the effort involved:

Not sure how to contact him these days unless he happens to pop back on here.

The level of organization made sense to some. As a photographer who loves to post photos, I found it absolutely obnoxious. If you're looking for a specific thing it's nice, and it's setup nice for a static reference. But as a dynamic gallery, it sucks.

I'm learning about it, samb those links help. And in discussion with some to see what to do about it. I rather take a few days to make an informed action, rather than act too quickly and mess this really good forum up.

So, bear with me a couple of more days, please.

I added a few 'sub groups" to 'help him out'. He seemed to have taken offence to that..

Nice additions to that. Since JAL3 is not around at this time, we're okay on not bothering him. But he did start something very interesting and a source of information for old and new rocket enthusiasts.

yes, do keep it going.. In that format, with that template.

I would add, however: (to the template)
CP location & recommended chute size, to round out the info provided.

In my original thinking I was looking for a sub category for Boyce Aerospace. I went ahead and posted my contribution for the Boyce Nike-Zeus. It did get posted in the Galleries on the website, but I'm not sure where it finally ended up under Galleries.

Once we get a moderator to operate it properly we can search your postings, aerostadt, and get it moved to the proper area.
