Using the Kuhn Tube Cutter

I have two of these - a larger one I built myself, and a smaller one by North Coast Rocketry.

I love this thing. I could cut tubes all day.

I made my own Tube Anniliator 42000 back in the 1980's. Made for scrap 3" x 3" x 1/4" aluminum angle, some Flat Bar and a piece of 1" x 2" x 1/8" alum angle. along with a handful of machine screws and a #2 or #24 X-Acto blade.

That said the most important thing learned in cutting my own tubes it the use of internal Mandrels to get that factory sharp edge the first time and every time.

I still use my original CMR tube cutter that I got in 1970 something or other.

Here's what I'm working with, still very difficult with how much my hands shake. Takes me quite a while per each.

Comments, questions, tips, tricks? I feel pretty good that my t908 tubefins are coming in +/- .01g or so ( I can't meaningfully measure any finer ).

Yes a miter box but I'm not sure which one. I found it in an old bag when looking for sanding sponges ^_^

Very cool. I am thinking a used engine casing would work as an internal mandrel in a pinch.
