Actually Charlie would be more likely to smirk than grin if he sees the inside my wallet.
But a man can dream, can't he?

I witnessed the maiden, and as far as I know only, flight of "Darmok and Jilad at Tenagra".
The smart move for that design is to take cover under your vehicle. It was definitely an interesting flight.

That pic reminds me of the XKCD Saturn5 blueprint where the author has used only the 1000 most common words in the english language to annotate the blueprint:

I love the caption: "This end should point toward the ground if you want to go to space. If it starts pointing towards space you are having a bad problem and you will not go to space today.."
Reasonably new to rocketry and hailing from the land down under.. I speak metric... I know not of these feet and inches you speak of...

Pretty small fins and I'm betting they are less efficient than the sim says they are. Should be able to fly with tweaking and a bit of trial and error (crashes).

Very cool design! I love retro-future sci-fi designs.

The story of the name and the letters to and from the lawyers is hilarious. Lots of wierd things went on in the gold rush days of the early internet. It seems like Black Rocket was at the tail end of that, but it sounds like a pretty typical failure from that time --- maybe it started with a good idea, lots of technical expertise joined up, lots of money poured in, but ultimately there was no game plan. The logo and name seem completely disconnected from the product, and yet they were determined to protect their meaningless branding. What a waste of time and energy! They should have named their company Dark Cato --- lots of noise and an explosion of black smoke that produces no useful forward motion. It's very ironic that The Rocket Formerly Known As Black outlived Black Rocket!

Anyway, back to the rocket. Let's see that build thread!

    EDIT: Found it. Very cool!
