What a fantastic time..
What an unbelievable launch...
URRG,, you folks are just the best..
Skilled,, experienced,, and done with a deep caring for how everything goes...
The flights were just boogieing up, one right after another...
I saw myself in the last month the sweat ( both physical and emotional ) that you all put into this...
And once again from the outside you make it look like a breeze,, ( no biggie,, let's just put on the launch of the year on the east coast )...
All I can say is Thank you,, your efforts are so worth while for so many....

Teddy

Anyone get good pictures of my "O" flight? Took a while to fetch it because it was in the far corner of the farm, much farther then I've ever been. To make things fun it was straddling a ditch with the tracker below grade suspended over the water. We chased a few echos before we had eyes on it.

I got some. here's a couple, I have more before, between, and after these two. What an awesome motor! you can get some of them here https://goo.gl/photos/yPzn6BfNBwEFpeDLA

URRF 2017...
Thanks to the URRG guys for a fantastic weekend. I had an absolute blast. You guys are a class act all the way. I only got one up, but 9694ft was well worth it.
It was great to put faces to names and hang out with everyone. I'll be back ASAP for a Prime Rib sandwich and a great time.

It was nice to meet you. Glad you could come out and glad you had a good time!

Here is one of Pitfield's flights, Tomach on a Loki L1400

Riley, great shots, thanks a bunch. You even caught Wildman's prototype fly away rail guide dropping away in the second pic, love it!

Cool shots. I didn't get pictures of that one because Mike asked me to record it with his GoPro. Hopefully, he'll post the video.

Hey Rick, thanks again for doing that and you caught all of the action. I will be putting something together for this as well as the Darkstar flight from Saturday on the Loki 10140 red and I will send you a link to your handy camera skills.

That flight was truly insane...
I can't wait to see the velocity achieved on this one...
That thing was cookin...

Teddy

Teddy I am also looking forward to seeing the numbers just as soon as Squirrel climbs the 100' + tree, that is branch-less for the first 75', and retrieves it.

Green is where it was launched and the red is where she is now. Considering the winds and the projected alt of 18K. the distance is not too bad...unfortunately it was not an up/down Dave recovery.

Lol,,
Michael,,
I'm really sorry man,,lol..
How the heck do you home in on every tree in the freakin county...lol...
Sometimes it seems like you could go up 300 ft on a mile square patch of grass and find a tree...lol...
I think the tree squirrel has put a whammy on your rockets ...lol...

Teddy

Ohhh,,
Would you please post some shots of the L 1040 Cocktail and the L 1400 W in the Loki thread...
Those were just off the chart cool flights...
I surev wish there were some picks of my buddy Steve's level 3 cert flight, an M 1650 Cocktail...
Also a severely cool flight...
A great big congrats on the successful level 3 cert Steve...
And on all the successful certs this past weekend for that matter...
There are quite a few new higher cert levels out there now..

Oh man, I forgot you said it was up a tree. It sounded like recovery would be...complicated. But if anyone can get it down, its the Squirrel... Didn't you have data downlinked to your phone during the flight?

Hi team! This is Grey Squirrel posting on uncle Larrys iPhone while we are driving home from the field (he's driving, lol)
We stayed an extra day to recover rockets. We were able to recover the little tan jart and delivered it to CATO. We also spent most of the day recovering from the trees the 15" AMG-78 that was 15 feet tall. I paid the farmer and he allowed me to transport it back to the farm in two trips and store it safe and dry in one of his barns until URRF5 when the owner will be back out this way and can pick it up. I also recovered Dan Sheeres rocket up a tree off of Wilkens Road with him. I was also able to recover Steve G's rocket "Snap Crackle Pop" from a tree in the back of the field. I was unable to get Mike Pitfield's rocket until I can come down next week with some other equipment and bring her down safely. That's all I have for now guys and gals. If anyone needs help with rocket recovery I should be home and posting on the forum later. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend and we are looking foward to URRF5! Grey Squirrel and Team Weasl signing off for now.

I was unable to get Mike Pitfield's rocket until I can come down next week with some other equipment and bring her down safely.

Thanks for the update, and thanks for not risking scaling that tree without your additional safety gear, I would have never forgiven myself if something happened to you.

Yeah I had my TeleGPS in the rocket and used my Yagi with the TeleBT connected to AltosDroid calling out the location and altitude showing the track over a Google Earth ma. It is very similar to Kate but it's a male synthesized voice and nowhere near as sexy sounding. I could see it tracking towards the clump of trees and was hoping it would clear, but no such luck.

Got some of Pitfield's Darkstar too... you can download them here https://goo.gl/photos/yPzn6BfNBwEFpeDLA I'll keep uploading stuff here as I find them. I seem to average about 1 ok shot per 1000 :)

Awesome Riley...I was hoping that someone would have snapped at least one pic, thanks! I just downloaded them now. Let me know if you have any higher res shots. Great pics of Rick's Jumbo DarkStar, I was really looking forward to that launch but missed it...I do like the sound of a 98 mm 9 grain or an 98 mm 6XXXL.

I kinda have higher res shots, these are all cropped. I can email you the originals.

Great time. Great Launch - Thanks

I got 11 flights in (mostly low power). Got all of my rockets back, but 3 need some repairs.

I had first flight of my K&S Satellite Interceptor on an I236. This was my first I motor. Not sure why I skipped it, but with this flight I now have done at least one of every letter from A to L.

Lots of great successful flights, but..... failure is an option (fortunately not mine...)

First, thanks to all the URRG members and other volunteers that made URRF 4 a success. Now for URRF 5, can you do something about the weather???

To Grey Squirrel and "team": Thank you for the effort into recovering Bill Good' AGM-78 Standard Arm. I know of no other club that would have gone to that much effort to recovery an errant rocket. We were in Pennsylvania when Mike Crupe (MAC Performance) texted me that he thought the rocket was found. If Bill did not have to go into work today, I would have turned the truck around and gone back to get it.

We shall see all of you soon......

Wow,,
Those are some great shots for sure...
What a wonderful bunch of people ( I almost said guy's, lol )..
I really am glad almost all of the rockets are back..
When Michael get's his back next week is that the last ??
Man,, team squirrel and weasel,,, lol,,, you guy's are the best...

I'm starting to look forward to this next year already,, lol..

Teddy

IMG_4819.jpgThis was my first regional event. What a great experience and great launch. I was impressed with the launch hardware and setup that obviously took many hours of planning and execution. We toughed out some intermittent clouds and rain to get in a lot of great launches and a spattering of expected and spectacular. Many thanks to Mike Cruoe and Riley Keller for retrieving my Rayzor after a J350 flight came in ballistic from 4,500. post flight analysis prove a faulty E-match on the drogue section. The main ejected at 800 but the velocity tore the chute from the harness. Amazingly the booster was totally unscathed as well as the electronics. The payload bay core sampled 18 inches. Mike had to use a shovel to dig it out. A testament to the toughness of his airframes. I wish I could have contributed more than RSO duty and hope to have my back sorted out for URRF5https://www.rocketryforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=323018&d=1498597074&thumb=1&stc=1

I didn't get any decent flight pictures of my own rockets, either because I was fighting the autofocus all weekend or I forgot to have the camera in my hand... Anyway, here's what I've got (or at least a portion of it):

Apologies for not crediting the individual rocketeers, but I have no idea who owns most of them...

My other thought was to get Tim to make me another fin can with a 6 inch hole. I've got some nice hardware that would let me crank out a 85% O9312 that looks like a lot of fun....need to make the body about 8 foot though.....

Hi Team. The Gray Squirrel noticed a raccoon trying to make Bill Goods AmG-78 his new crib. We took a video of it but having a problem up loading it. Ill see if Riley can do it.

Hey Mike, Grey Squirrel here. I'll be heading out first thing in the morning to get your rocket down for you before any more bad weather hits. Should have her in hand by about noon time. :)
