Purdy and congrats!
Successful L3 certification at MDRA today!!!!! It was a perfect flight to 3,926 ft on a rare calm day at Higgs Farm. And the best part is that the rocket didn't get a scratch on it.
I would like to thank Glenn, Dennis, Tom, Jess, Dave, and MDRA for all their help today. And also the following vendors who helped make this project a success:
AMWPro-X
Performance Hobbies
Upscale CNC
OneBadHawk
Missileworks
FruityChutes
Video coming soon . . .
Congrats Nathan!
Will it be flying at BattlePark pretty soon?
YES! My problem now is that there are still no big 75mm CTI reloads available. That rocket needs a 5 or 6 grain 75mm motor. The M1810 that I used for certification I bought months ago and was one that was made before the CTI fire. AMWPro-X says that they expect to get some 75mm reloads in their January shipment. Once I get a motor I plan to fly it at Battlepark. Then I'll fly it one more time this season at Red Glare.
If Kenny is going to be onsite when you're at BattlePark, his site says he has a M1200 Spit Fire Loki load for the 76/6000. I can loan you the case if you want to fly that.
Man that is stunning.FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been 7 months since I started building this rocket and it is now done. The paint job alone took me 10 weeks.
I did all the polishing by machine using a Porter Cable 7424 polisher. First I polished with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound using a Lake Country white CCS pad. Then I polished again with Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish using a black (softer) CCS pad. The last step was a wax job using Chemical Guys 5050 paste wax.
And now some final glamour shots . . .
Here's the video . . .
