Air Fest 23, as if I could have said, Holy Sh*t!! That was loud, one more time.

I flew my metallic red/blue MadCow Screech on a K550 on Sunday. It was subsequently confused on how to get home. I lost GPS lock on my eggfinder mini, and so I have no idea where it landed. Someone was kind enough to pick it up and return it to RSO sometime between 5pm and 7pm Sunday. I say 5pm because as I drove by RSO on the way out to head out of town, I glanced at RSO and didn't see anything. We wound up driving around for a bit.

If you found the Screech, could you let me know where you found it? I am very curious!

So if we are doing lost and found here... In a 200 to 300 ft radius around the 70s pads I lost two 4 grain snap ring motors (case, bulkhead and their new nozzles). One was a Kosdon gold anodized, and one was a True-core non-anodized silver. At least one of them had a Loki blue anodized forward bulkhead (maybe they both did).

I left my GoPro on without thinking about it while I went to recover my V2, and caught the subsequent launch from the same pad up close. My condolences. Really bad luck on where the rocket came down.

Notice how high the rocket is at the first moment you hear the motor. :jaw:

I saw this rocket last night at the HARA meeting. It's insane how much the aerodynamic forces affected the paint on the rocket.

yeah, that was crazy stuff. As word spread along the flight line about it, flyers and all sorts of people were making a point to come over and get a look at it. Peter should have sold tickets. :)

Wow,,
What a launch..
What a fantastic time..
My wife Sandy and I had the best time ever..lol..
The flights that go up are just amazing..
It's hard to get anything done,,
every flight that's announced is one you want to see...
My hats off to the Kloudbusters,, each and every one..
What a hard working bunch of guy's ( and girls { so Amy doesn't kill me } )..
It really is all about the people..
The club is fantastic,, the people that drive halfway across the country,,
you only get to see once a year...
What a wonderful time..
Thank you all so much...

Teddy

Super event like always! Great work Bob and Lance and Terry and the rest of the Kloudbuster crew. See y'all in a year, if not earlier

Need to say a GIANT THANK YOU to the Kloudbusters for hosting on an amazing launch! What an absolute blast...can't wait to do it again!

I'd like to (finally) post a few photos. Numerous factors interfered with taking decent photos at the launch, and the post-processing was an utter nightmare this time....computer issues, multiple rotation dramas, posting/hosting issues. Argghh, here's the few that I've got to share! More to be posted in appropriate threads if sanity prevails! Enjoy!

These are not in chronological order, because I had to edit them in Photobucket, which changed the names and resorted them. Apologies!

Tom Cayemberg's Darkstar on an AMW K700 Blue Baboon. Cool!

Great pics Eric - what are we seeing on the Motherload pic are those spit grains? The mother load sure looks awesome

Great pictures Eric, appreciate the one of Wayne's Jart. Seems someone walked off with my Fuji camera on Saturday so I lost all our pictures from Friday and Saturday. Fortunately I had a back up camera so I have Sunday pictures.

Great pics Eric,,
thank you so much for going to all the trouble,,
posting pics can be really time consuming and a pain..

I'm really sorry to hear that Sharon...
What a shame..

Wow, that's terrible.

Wow, that's terrible.

My own fault. I was using as a paper weight for my rocket log book at the time it went missing and neglected to consider that it was a large launch with spectators. It was my Kayaking waterproof camera, not that great at pictures but pretty good at videos, relatively inexpensive but I really regret losing the pictures and videos. However, I now have an reason to purchase a good digital video camera. I did see someone at Airfest with a manual focus digital video camera that I'd be interested in knowing more about. And I'll get a cheaper paperweight for my logbook to use at the 2018 Airfest......maybe a rock

Somewhere (a Facebook stream?) I think I saw that a very large upscale Mars Lander was there. Any info on that? Did it fly?

Yes it did fly, and it was spectacular...complete with smoky motor "retro-rockets" for landing. Sorry no pics from me though.

Not your fault at all. It was the fault of the thief.

Beautiful pictures Eric! Thanks for sharing them. I'm real partial to that Me 163 Komet, THAT is really neat!

Sorry too hear about your camera. Considering your location on the flight line, i'm really surprised that no one saw a thing...That pretty much leads me to believe that a spectator grabbed it. I've always felt very secure around my fellow rocketeers over the years but, being a Truck driver who has seen EVERY square inch of America. I've learned that there is NO safe place to go when- Intent, Opportunity and, Capability present themselves.

Lets do it again next year!

Nick?
Nick...
I was REALLY hoping someone would post a (better) video of the QCC Explorer than what I have in my phone.
But-

So a week later my friend, I posted this to my You Tube channel so you could relive it again. Sorry about the finger...Just look at the rocket. Keep your eyes on the rocket.

Mars Lander was Coop and Jay's project. This was it's second flight. It flew last year and shucked the nose cone early. Motor was a large Cesaroni M.

Lance, any info on the total number & size of motors flown? Seems that every year there's more and more M, N, & O's flown.

There was this 3 stage Outlander at MWP 3 many years ago: That was the infamous MWP where some "research" motors were snuck in at the very far away pads. Thank heavens things have changed
for the better since then. Kurt
