So what hobby rocket that you can buy either as a kit or premade goes the fastest and which one currently available goes to the highest altitude? And what are their top speeds and altitudes?

That's a really broad question!

3fin d21 18mm * ~250mm incl. boattail and VK NC is probably the smallest machbreaker one could construct and fly. A cut-down fletcher would be right in this ballpark.

A minimum diameter 3fin g65 w/ a custom turned aft closure and and VK NC would probably be the highest.

If you open it up to clusters & staging, it gets a lot more complex. g65-g65 electronic is probably about the highest possible w/out a cert, maybe 15-20k ft. rough ballpark.

If you search, you'll find other threads on this topic. For a simple answer, try the Apogee Aspire. Will break mach on a G80, will go 1 mile plus on an F10-8. You could probably get more altitude with a G54, but then you'd have to buy the casing, etc, rather than single-use motors.

Now, altitude and speed will depend in large part on your building skills. If you really want to go fast/high, you're talking carbon fiber, making your own tubes and fins, and a mirror-polish finish. We have a gentleman who does that in our club, and he can get 8,000+ from a G motor.

If you are really interested in going high, you might want to check out NAR competitions and/or records at https://www.nar.org/contest-flying/records/. Altitude record for a G motor is 8,665 feet (2,641m).

An Apogee Aspire and G80 or F10 is also known as... The fastest way to lose $100 :y:

Many folks who buy this combination (because they want to go high and fast) are surprised at just how high and fast this really is, and are not fully prepared for tracking and retrieval.

The up part is easy...
