This thread took a turn for the comical as soon as Incongruent and tmacklin started posting! :p

Dilbert IS funny!

Retired telecom manager for the Democratic State of California. Retired Highland Games world champion - throwing sticks and stones. Part-time rocketeer. Part-time shootist. Full-time curmudgeon with 5000 followers on twitter.

My high school guidance counselor was right...I was best suited for retirement.

LOL! I could kill my HS counselor-"you don't wanna be no 'puter program guy, just look at all them ads. They'll be a dime a dozen in a few years." Yeah, this was back in 1967 and we were using punch cards. Idiot, but then, so am I for listening to him. Then I saw how much English Teachers were not making. Somehow I managed to eke out a living and fed myself for all these years. Hats off to ALL teachers! I couldn't afford to be one then or now.
You should re-post those pics of you and the caber toss-complete with kilt! You were a bad-ass, my friend!

You know those 'chicken rotisserie ovens' you see at Costco, Sam's club, BJs, etc.. I design them.

Actually, I specialize in the heated display cases they're sold on.. And the pizza warmer in the cafeteria in Costco.

Yes, I see a lot of chicken!

So you were the one who invented the Cornballer!

20 years commercial HVAC tech
7 years HVAC estimator
7 years pipe organ builder
1 year subwoofer builder

Then got CIDP and 4 months later became disabled:(

My varied past...

Junior High - worked helping my mother at her sweatshop job prepping clothes for KMart...2 cents for each belt put on and 1 cent for each bag put over it. :bang:

High School - Worked at a candy manufacturer's store selling candy :D, ice cream  and cigarettes :p. Best...job...ever...; however not so good for the health and waistline!

College - Worked various jobs including one at a Commercial Fridge manufacturer learning to take my hands out of the huge metal press before I step on the button. :y: A couple of years with Con Edison Electric - one at their cushy cubicled headquarters :cool2: and another at one of their power plants...worked over their furnaces in the summer...15 mins work, 45 mins rest since it was sooo hot :p.

College to Outta College - Worked for a small Market Research firm with the office in the President's house. Company grew a LOT and eventually I had a corner office with two computers back when they were $$$$ and a $1K+ office chair. I co-managed a very stressful multi-million dollar account for several years (worked full speed past midnight at least twice a week and errors weren't allowed :caffeine:); however it was for...MCI Worldcom. Needless to say that eventually ended suddenly - good lesson for others to save when times are good!

Present - From there, I got a job at the top/biggest Market Research firm...a few years before they announced the largest outsource contract in history.

Presently I still work with that company, but as a Senior Tabulation Analyst/"Outsource Avoidance Specialist". ;) I'm one of a handful left where there used to be about a hundred. I used to be a Manager too, but no longer; however I do get to work from home. :w: Also I work with Unix daily. Cool. LOL

So- you're the dirty rat that denied my request for delivery of an oasis to my backyard???

I'm not the one directly, but I do influence the policy makers. Being in Colorado, it was our water to begin with, we are just giving you the privilege of having our leftovers after we are done brewing beer with it. :cyclops:

Went to grad school to be a physical therapist and practiced for 8 years. Made a switch to pharmaceuticals and then biotech sales and have been doing that for almost 17 years. The past 8 years of that has been with companies developing, producing and selling medicines for cancer.

I have keep my state physical therapy license current (although in an inactive status) in case I head back that direction. After this much time away it would be a big commitment to get current, but it's a possibility.

Master bicycle mechanic and frame builder. Started building frames and fixtures in 1986. Now the wife has the big job and I work part time. Mornings are spent at the shop and afternoons are with my 9 year old daughter. Hitting the park after homework to launch a few if were lucky.

Corzero,

I now wish I had done Secret Santa and that you had drawn my name and then when shopping on a day that you were in a really good mood! 😀😀😀😀

Oh yeah, he puts commercial made drivers in various boxes he designs. I was a driver builder ( putting the magnet, coil, spider, cones etc. together). We have engaged in "discussions " on one of the audio speaker forums. It's just like rocketry, some think G motors are all one would ever want or need, others are seeking much greater performance and have experienced the world shake beneath you.

Not a title you see or hear of everyday but this time of year (hunting season) I'd have to call myself a deer skinner. I get $10 per deer, $20 to cape a big buck. Average around 175 deer a year, and I also do Euro mounts for the guys who cant afford $400 for a shoulder mount. I charge $100 for those.
That's a pile of salted deer hides on the left. A hide buyer comes and buys them every year. Price per hide varies yr to yr. but last year I got $4.oo
per hide. It's a messy job but it puts some good money in my Christmas funds this time of year.

Mechanical engineer & retired Current Business Engineering Leader for a Cincinnati Ohio based consumer products company making baby care products and other paper products. Retired in 2015 and back as a consultant working on the same stuff that I did when I left, only now it's fun.

I'll be switching from teaching third grade all subjects to teaching fifth through eighth science. The upshot is more time to build, test, and launch rockets at work!

Been with an EMS supplies and equipment company for the last 33 years. I do everything from technical customer service to product photography. Yes, taking pictures of Bandaids is as exciting as it sounds. At one time I was planning on becoming a paramedic, until I discovered that injured people bleed and vomit a lot. I decided I'd rather sell Spit Socks than have to use them.
