My eldest son use to have something like this on his smart phone. When the app was activated, he pointed the phone in any upward direction and corresponded to the time of day/night and show the constillations. We argued for 10 minutes where the little dipper was until he proved me wrong with that app.
Looks very interesting. Might have a spend a day or 2 and try it out.
Thanks for sharing.

I have something called StarTracker and Star Chart on my smartphone. You can point them at the ground or the sky any time of the day and see the constellations. However, they are not very accurate for real observational astronomy. At several star parties I have tried to use them for aiming my telescope, but they are off. In talking to my fellow astronomers the consensus is that they are not accurate enough. They do give a ballpark idea of where the constellations are.
