I am currently designing a tool that would be used to make the body tube out of fiberglass. The only component I am researching is the motor. I looked into stepper motors but those are typically used with Arduinos and that is more complex than I care to get into. I just want a motor that I can plug in and have a switch. I thought about getting BBQ Rotisserie motors, but is there a cheaper alternative?

You are not going to find a gearmotor much less expensive than a discount store rotisserie part. Those can be had for on the order of $15. About the only other thing you can do is find something at a yard sale you can tear apart to get the motor out of. Be aware that most of those motors are shaded pole and have no particular rotation direction.

Is that what you are trying to do?

If so, it's a lot more than just a motor.....

https://www.xwinder.com/ is where you can get a lot more info.
