There have been a lot of recording artists who were "one hit wonders," but only one group has ever had a #1 single, and never scored a hit before or after.

That was Zager and Evans in 1969, with "In the Year 2525."

Bet you never knew that!
 
OMG, what a beating that song is !!! If you where around in '69 you couldn't miss it if you wanted to. I can't believe the hippies were that high ! Thank goodness I was more interested in rockets than music back then. It would be a few more years before I put them away in my teenaged, scorched earth, ultimately failed campaign to be "cool".

As Johnny Carson used to say - "I DID NOT KNOW that.......

It was written in 1964, after recording in 1968 - didn't get much airplay except regionally.
It was No.1 on July 20, 1969, in the United States, the date of the first manned moon landing
