Painting basically done, save for maybe a clearcoat. I'd like to see if i can find some sort of decals (cockpit, windows, etc) for it yet, but we'll see.

That turned out great, nice work! And on the last day of the build, too!

Thanks guys. Here are today's "final" shots.

The bulk of the decals were a spare set for an Estes Argosy, which I'd gotten from Sandman back when he still printed decals. The solar panels on the wings are kind of an afterthought. They were left over from a different project and happened to fit OK, and cover some paint flaws. And the little vents between the wings and fin can are vinyl from Mark Hayes, extras from a Cherokee upscale. I'd still like to come up with some sort of cabin windows for main tube sections. I think I'll wait a few weeks for all this to really dry before attempting to clear coat it...

That looks really nice! I love the look of the tailcone - looks like its ready to thrust!

Mostly. I do think that this has a lot of surface area, and needs some level of added detail. Either panel lines, windows, or technical detail, but I don't have anything else to put on it that's scale suitable. I do wish Sandman was still printing!

Some people seem to handle this aspect so effortlessly (Frank Burke I'm looking at you); I struggle with it. Panel lines in particular, I have no idea how to do in any sort of "realistic" way. It's one area where building a kit with included decals is so much less mental effort. I wish there were some easy and reasonably-priced way to outsource this sort of thing.

In any case, I do think you have a pretty good amount of detail in there; it already looks far more "finished" than the usual scratcher.

This is one rite up me ally.A rocket plane thingy..
