I always stay at the Dover, DE Microtel (1703 E Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE 19901). Cheap and adequate for what you need. Indoor parking in the basement. 24 miles, 35 minute drive from the field. Walmart, restaurants, and a casino nearby!

Dan, do you have any contact info on this hotel?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a camp cabin at Tuckahoe SP, which is only about 10 miles away. Anyone here ever done that?

Tuckahoe is nice, I have stayed there several times. I live about 15 mi from Tuckahoe. You can take the back roads from the park to 301 and avoid the weekend traffic to Ocean City.

Wish I would have thought of that. Cabin would be nice.

Those of you who fly there, which hotels do you recommend?

This is a very up 2 date list of hotels in the area. I think more details on the host hotel will be coming very soon....

Years ago the Sleep Inn in Grasonville, just east of Kent Narrows used to be the hang out after the days' events.
Was near the VFW hall where the MDRA banquet was held.
One floor would often have open doors to rooms with rocketeers working their projects, folks packing chutes in the hallway and partying in the community room.
Close to Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center and Queenstown Harbor Golf Club.
Underwent renovation several years ago. It is not 5 star...maybe 2 star, but I was only sleeping there - was at the event most of the time.
In all the years I stayed, there was only one bad incident where a loud rude wedding party got called out repeatedly by management and dropped a lit cigarette down the laundry chute at 3 AM. The fire crew in the hallway with a lot of big rockets on and inside cars outside was rather amusing...I wasn't sure what happened, glad it wasn't caused by us.
Front desk lady comped me for the night.
(This kind of thing could happen anywhere, happened to us in a five star in downtown Chicago).

That hotel isn't on the current list, for some reason. ?

Since my wife used to attend the three day Red Glare events with me, there were things to do and sea food restaurants at the marina near Kent Narrows to keep her entertained.
Only 59 rooms so this will go fast.

She also liked the Holiday Inn Express in Grasonvlle, which had rooms facing the water.

But some of these alternatives are much more expensive.
Be careful on that Chesapeke Motel (read user comments)

The Sleep Inn was popular and was a full building "party" but they "remodeled" as they put it. Then raised the price, the rooms were no nicer, the water in the showers was still gross and the attitudes were worse. I for one miss the party atmosphere but the new RG hotel is much cleaner and costs less.

I find the food options in Easton much better. I do miss Hollies :(

I made reservations at Mom's. She's only 90 minutes away in Rockville. I'll have to do the bridge, but that's more than fine.

And the new RG hotel is ...........?

Is "leave no trace" unsupported RV camping normally permitted on this field?

In "The Good Ol' Days" at LDRS the open rooms were the norm and a good thing.
Along with people working on projects and BS sessions dealers and manufacturers had there wares on display and sale. I bought my first reloadable case this way, 38-240 SN 007.
It was good and if the tradition returns it will make the launch better.

LOL MDRA might want to consider getting a RECYCLING dumpster.

I always thought a rocket recycling dumpster might be neat. I had a crash that took 2 weeks for the garbage man to haul off LOL.

That would be cool. Danville used to be that way also. Go from room to room checking out vendors and projects.

This launch is going to be very well attended right?

How hard would it be to do a few MPR / LPR flights off the A rack? Is it still worth it to fly non HPR at this kind of event?
