Globbed the broken nylon string back together with CA, lost maybe half an inch in length but it should not affect flight performance, BT 101 still hangs straight. Had to tear up about half an inch of string on the exterior of the next tube in order to get the BT 101 to seat properly again so Jack could stand upright on the floor.

Jack showing off his flight scar.

Jack hanging out with Skeeterrific, who also had a zipper from being launched on a CTI F30 longburn. These dudes think their scars make them look tough and more attractive to the ladies!

So, after two flights what have I learned and what can be done to improve the concept.

What is that you are saying Jack?. . . Build a Jill in the Box? Naughty Jack!

I was thinking using square tube or balsa box fins.

Channeled kevlar for more burn resistant tail shrouds.

Plugged motors could be mounted higher with drag separation recovery, just have to stay away from NAR events!

Less smoky composite motors.

Higher level of finish, a crank fin, a music chip like on a greeting card.

Nomex cloth or mylar foil on the tail tube interstages instead of strings for more structure with less twist and flutter during flight.

Pyrotechnic effects - day or night, stay away from NAR and Tripoli events, hang out at the Pyro Club where "recovery" is a seldom heard word.

Night version with LEDs!

Upscale? Downscale?

Still thinking a telescoping Rattle Snake with a real rattle on the end would be cool.

A flying Matryoshka doll, you can always step down the telescope as well as stepping up like on Jack. Stacked cups would work that way too.

R2D2 with telescoping legs, just like the real one when they are in an XWing fighter.

A medieval illustration comet rocket.

A telescoping Hammer Head shark. You know where the motors would go! You would get a nice swimming action through the air! SHARKNADO!

A POP THAT ZIT rocket! Oh now that is just too gross!

And for Halloween there is always Oliver Cromwell's head on a spike!

Krampus has the impaled head and tractor motors. Maybe he needs a tail.

Jack flew again today at Northern Colorado Rocketry on the gorgeous green Pawnee Grass land. Such a clown. Jack loves two F15 0 plugged with epoxy. No ejection charges, just good old drag seperation for deployment! Drag seperation is a good thing for Jack!

The sad story ofJack in the Box is that he is most stable rocket at the meet with those huge tractor motors up front. He has the most fin area of any rocket around, yet they say he has no fins. No one really knows or cares about the truth. They call him a clown and mock his telescoping launch because one of the highly stressed nylon strings broke on his third launch. Wobbly, slow and awkward compared the the sparklely painted and thin 3-4FNC, quick burn, high powered beauties all around him. Funny looking oddroc just trying to make his way in the cruel world. Yes, Jack is becoming disillusioned with the rocketry hypocrisy surrounding him. Just a change of make up, a little red around the lips, some green triangles above and below the eyes. A more flamboyant color scheme on one or two telescoping body tubes. Yes, Jack is spiraling down the path towards a new identity; the rocket Joker!

Well, as long as he isn’t flippin’ burgers.......

Are you using a twist drill on foam? Try a sharpened brass or aluminum tube driven by hand, it works better and is safer.
I did a bit with drill but in hand and shoving the Metal tube through the foam. Motor mounting was just hack and slash. That metal launch lug running through the center and entire length of the rocket works real good!
