The 1/4 inch rod on my PSII pad is a two piece unit. I am moving to use rail buttons on future builds, but was wondering if a 5 foot 304 stainless rod (one piece) would provided more whip resistance than the 4.5 foot Estes rod

The 2-piece launch rod on my Estes rig is aluminum, not steel.

5ft > 4ft, 1pc > 2pc ; without knowing what your current rod is made out of, can give no informed opinion on 304SS :)
