Here's a clip concerning the 80 days preparation leading up to the launch of Explorer I, the first American satellite. Aside from being an entertaining (and I shudder to say, nostalgic) 20 minutes, there is a great (or should I say "swell"...)countdown near the end. ("This is project command! Please clear the launching area for radio frequency interference tests!" Stuff like that.) Was thinking it might be fun to play that stuff over the PA at a sport range launch of some elaborate model.

Do it if you can!

A couple of years ago a guy in the local club had built a very large Saturn V and played a few minutes of the flight loop recording for Apollo 8 leading up to the liftoff. It was a fantastic addition to the launch.
