Basically a big battery pack with 36 ducted fans, Arca Space Corp. has come out with a new hoverboard. Calling the electric propeller power units "turbines", it can deliver 430 pounds of vertical thrust for about six minutes before the batteries run dry. Your wallet will drain just about as fast at the cost of $20K per unit. You should really enjoy your few minutes of future-backness, because you will be sitting around for the next six hours, waiting to recharge. Or you could spring another $4500 for a rapid charging dock and be back in the air in a much shorter 35 minutes. My big question is whether or not this fits the govt's definition of a drone, and if no, why not.

Arca Space recently relocated to Las Cruces, NM from Romania (I believe). It has been around for many years and reportedly has never actually delivered a product. So, most people assume it's vaporware.

Interesting.

This gets you the batteries and the motors for ~$11500 but then you need the control system and platform.

$20K doesn't seem unreasonable for an assembled unit if it works and you simply want to have one....
