I hear that! I've needed new eyes for 10 years now.....

What soldering station did you get?

The $50 one from Weller, plus two on the 1/32 tips (conical and chisel). Received it from Zoro before I got the "shipped out" email.

I use a hot air station for my eggtimers. I've made 4 quarks, an lcd, trs, and a tx with it and had no rework.

Are you using a paste type solder with that?

I picked up a syringe of solder paste at MicroCenter and have been using that. After I'm done with the SMDs I scrub the board with spray flux remover then blow it dry with compressed air, before solding the through hole mounts with a solding iron. It probably doesn't need the cleaning since most solder paste is 'no clean,' but why take the chance??? I've seen failures returned from the field due to dendritic growth in 'no clean' flux causing shorts. It takes the wrong enviorment, but it caused me pain a few years ago at work so I clean my boards.....
