I have several of these units that we used for an event back in 2010. For the most part, they have sat unused in my office since then.
I have just tested out a few of these and they still work fine.
These systems do not have continuity checks at the controller, only at the pad.
It is a 12V, relay based system with a 75' cable. You can easily rewire it to extend the distance if needed.
