I want to rig my Estes Mercury Redstone with its own parachute Centuri style but I can't find info on the parachute size to use. Can anyone help me out?

I believe that you will need to use a 12" parachute. Estes used that size with the smaller K-41 version of the capsule (BT-60 sized).

I haven't weighed just the capsule yet, but I'll be it's around 1 Oz. maybe a bit more. 12" would make for a slow decent and drift. I'd think a 10" would be fine.

Thanks everyone, 12" was my first thought but my second guessing was telling me maybe too small. I don't want to ever rebuild the escape motor tower assembly.

The only way that'll happen is if you never fly it with the tower. I've repaired / replaced mine many times.

Well, I got to launch it at least once so keeping fingers crossed
