I watched that movie the day before going into USAF boot camp, some 30+ years ago.

1955, B-36's, Carswell AFB, and American hero (then) Colonel Jimmy Stewart. Good show!
Great story! Thanks for sharing. In 1943 Jimmy Stewart lived in my grandfather's house here in Boise. He was a pilot instructor and at the time grandpa and grandma were in Alameda, Cali welding ships for the war and the house was empty. The Air Corps needed places for the men to live, so many were in tents. The grandparents volunteered the house for use. As Mr. Stewart was an instructor he was bivouacked at the house until he received orders to head to Europe to fly bomber missions. When grandpa and grandma came up to see how the house was doing my mom shared the room with Mr. Stewart. She was 5 years old
Does anyone remember the movie "Fail Safe" ? There was a remake a few years ago, but I'm referring to the 1964 version with Henry Fonda as president. Great movie.
One thing I remember about the movie is Dom DeLuise has small part as the technician in SAC command who is ordered to tell the Russians how to defeat the jamming on the attacking bombers.
MaxQ, Thanks for up-loading the clips. I'll say it again, this is great movie.
Yep, great movie, and about 180 degrees from the tone of Col. Stewart's SAC "recruiting poster". What a difference a decade makes.
